HQ Replacement – Consultation Invitation

Dear Parents and Supporters,

We are writing to you to let you know of our exciting plans to rebuild our headquarters building.
As you may have noticed the building is now 40 years old and showing its age – the roof leaks, there are structural problems and the toilet and kitchen facilities are inadequate.

We are in the process of applying to a number of charitable bodies to try and obtain grant funding to help rebuild our Headquarters.

As part of that process we need to obtain letters of support both from the current main users i.e. parents of current scouts and guides etc., but we also need letters of support or expression of interest from other parts of the local community.

We hope that our network of parents and supporters might be able to either pass on this request to potentially interested parties, or ‘put us in touch’ with people who might consider using our redeveloped facilities.

It will be available throughout the daytime and at weekends and would be suitable for a whole range of activities associated with such buildings – exercise classes, adult education classes, craft and art activities etc.

So if you can think of someone who might be interested, we would love to hear from them.

Outline plans and elevations are available to view on our website

Each night of the week commencing 15/4/2013 a display of the proposed plans and a model of the new building will be on display in the smaller hall of the Headquarters. This will be available 15 minutes before the scheduled finish of your child’s meeting.

Beavers – Monday from 19.00.

Explorers – Monday from 19.30.

Brownies – Tuesday from 18.45

Guides – Tuesday from 20.45

Chubb – Wednesday from 19.45

Findlay – Thursday from 19.45

Scout Troop – Friday from 21.00

A member of the Group will be available to answer questions regarding the project. We are also planning to gather feedback and reactions to proposals.

We hope you will be able to provide a formal letter of support. It would be helpful if your letter could include

-The basis on which your child currently uses the building.

-The benefits and enjoyment your child gains from their involvement.

– Some negative comments regarding the current state of the building – leaking roof, poor toilet facilities and limited kitchen space.

– Stress having viewed the plans how the improved building and its facilities would benefit your child, the group and the wider community.

We will provide you with a template for these comments on the evening.

We trust you will be able to lend us your support for this exciting project.

An article appearing in the Ilkley Gazette this week will help publicise the project and there will be an evening open to the public from 20.30 to 21.30 Wednesday 17/4/2013 to view the plans, a model and collect feedback.

If you feel able to volunteer to support this project in some way, please contact Colin Williams, Group Chairman colinr.williams@dhl.com .

We plan to contact you again in the near future to outline some other ways in which you might be able to support us.
