The text of the letter is included below.  Also on the documents linked above is a form for those wishing to donate towards the cost of the planned development of the Headquarters.

Dear Parents and Supporters,

Thanks to all of you who found time to give us your thoughts, ideas and feedback in the recent consultation process. The responses were overwhelmingly positive with over 98% expressing support!

Now for the tricky bit of making it a reality. As previously mentioned we are in the process of applying for charitable grants to help meet the costs of the project. We were delighted to recently receive a grant of £5,000 from the Sir George Martin Trust and now Ilkley and District Round Table have kindly promised £7,500 to meet the costs of fitting out the new kitchen facilities, when the building is completed.

During the consultation a number of people enquired if we would be asking for donations, we have considered this and have decided to ask for donations and to create a ‘Wall of Honour’ in the new building.  The ‘Wall of Honour’ will be used to record the support of any individual or business supporters, who make a significant donation and would like to this to be commemorated, equally we recognise that some people may wish to donate anonymously.

For smaller, but equally welcome donations, we plan to record these donations and dedications on a permanent page on our group website.

The Group is eligible for the Gift Aid Scheme which can further boost the value of any donation by an additional 25%.

Bob Gomersall – until recently the Group Executive Chairman, has kindly agreed to make a donation of £1000 and will get the Wall started. We plan to publicise the idea more widely with a further article in the Ilkley Gazette.

We are conscious that we are living through tough economic times but we have managed to get this long running project to a point where it can happen, and your donations could help make that possibility becomes a reality.

We hope you can help support us and benefit our children and young people today and for generations to come.

Many thanks for considering our request.

Kind regards,

Colin Williams, Group Chairman,

Robin Beaumont, Assistant Group Scout Leader,
